ServObit 1.4 for Linux and source code package released
ServObit 1.4 for Linux has been released, as well as a separate source
code package. 'Nuff said. See the download section below.
ServObit 1.4 for Quake II v3.14 Released!
ServObit 1.4 has been released for Quake II v3.14 on Win95/NT, with a
Linux version to follow shortly! Source code will also be available
upon request. The server-side only death messages mod includes the
following new capabilities:
- GenderMod 0.1, which tries to address the problem of
accurately reflecting the gender of plugin player models by utilizing
a list of models and their genders. Finally, the Crack Whore can be
referred to as "she"!
- Introduction of a "neuter" gender for models such as the Snork or
tentacle. Players using this model can be referred to as "it".
- Random substitution of words and phrases into individual death
messages
- Definition of groups of death messages that can be used to apply
to multiple situations
- All the different death situations that are in the Quake II 3.14
version
- A separate test program to make sure you have identified all
possible obituary outcomes. No more "generic" death messages because
you forgot to account for the times when a neuter gibs a female with
shrapnel from a Quad hand grenade.
- The message of the day can include green text (finally!) and be
quickly disabled by the user by pressing the F1 or TAB key.
- Operator-settable limits on the number of death messages, connect
messages, etc.; no more restrictions by ServObit itself.
Other ServObit Capabilities
As in previous versions, ServObit 1.4 includes the old standby ways of
creating death messages for a broad range of situations:
- gender of the killer and victim
- state of the victim's body (gib, normal, or "mega-gib")
- weapon used
- basic type of killer (self, environment, enemy)
- use of Quad damage
There are literally hundreds of different situations you can use to
find the perfect Obituary for the most memorable gibs.
ServObit 1.4 also provides these features:
- Create different messages to be randomly displayed for
each different type of death
- Display random messages when a client joins or leaves the game
- Enhanced use of gender pronouns in obituaries (his/her/its,
him/her/it, etc.)
With ServObit 1.4, you can compose obituaries such as these:
- Bob was gibbed by Mary's rocket
- Mary hyperblasts her spiritual sister Sue
- Bob castrates himself with the Quad rocket
- Fred was Big Freakin' Gibbed by Ralph's Quad BFG

I really don't want to be flooded with lots of complete Obits.txt
files, so PLEEEEEEEZE just send me a few of your new ones only? Isn't
