SteQve's Minimal Frills Quake Mod Beta Testing Page

Thanks to QuakeGod, who has basically implied that while this page may still load over your average PC modem in less than 30 seconds, tables and a graphical counter (which I can't help since SSI is not available and I MUST have my counters) no longer constitute "No Frills". So now we have this new name. Happy, QuakeGod? ;-) QuakeGod and others are encouraged to search for a minor rebuttal on this page by searching for the word "whiners". [sic for you punctuation fascists]

So, you live on the edge, huh? You like high technology? You live a 300Mhz lifestyle, you use your Personal Digital Assistant every day, you use a web crawler to find the latest games? Or, at the very least, you WANT all that stuff? And, especially, you like Quake or Quake 2, nay, you LOVE Quake or Quake 2, with a love so deep and strident that you are embarrassed to admit it in public, a love so strong that you ignore your partner who actually wants to have sex with you, just so you can gib one more llama?

Cool. This page wants YOU! (Oops, sorry about the frilly red font. Guess I'm just a rebel at heart.)

As a mod author, I've sometimes found it difficult to find people to help test the product before it's released. Other mod authors have the same problem, especially those who aren't hosted by a major site.

This page aims to link the beta testers with all the cool new Quake mods out there that are still in development. (Ah, bold, now that ain't a frill like a red font is!)

Why beta test?

OK, how much effort do I have to make?

Naturally, it's up to you. I anticipate that different mods will have different beta test requirements. Total conversions might require you to make a fairly large download. Partial conversions might not require you to download anything. Early releases might break more often than they work. It will depend on the mod, and your mood.

Project One/TagYerIt beta testing a success

Project One, now known as TagYerIt, had a very successful beta test run over a period of a couple weeks. There were about 50 beta testers overall, and about 10 hardcore testers, who helped test the mod and make suggestions.

Multiplayer Servers Wanted

It is extremely difficult for some mod authors to adequately test their mod because they don't have access to big, fast servers. If you are willing to provide such a server in some cases, please contact SteQve.

Beta tester profiles

I am going to set up a capability for beta testers to fill in "profiles" of their interests, their capabilities, etc. This will help the testers as well as the mod authors. I will post information when this capability is added.

Bring on Da Noize! Bring on Da Mods!

(Apologies to the folks at Da Bomb.)

Mod authors can email me if they want to add to the list.

For you whiners out there who would complain that a table is a frill, notice I'm not using any fancy background colors in the cells or anything like that. This table is fully HTML 2.0 compatible, and HTML is now up to what, 3? 4? So *there*.

Please forgive this counter's frillishness. I have this thing about wanting to know how many people visit this page. Maybe it's tied into my sense of self worth or something, I don't know.
